Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES)
Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard is here! From April 2019 MEES regulations have changed and are being actively enforced. Smart Energy have been busy preparing for these changes and our dedicated business development & projects department are happy to provide free impartial advice on how to become MEES compliant.
THE BIGGEST IMPACTS MEES CAN HAVE ON YOU…..
You cannot re mortgage or sell a buy to let property if the EPC is ‘F’ or ‘G’
Insurance companies will not grant buildings insurance on properties where the EPC is ‘F’ or ‘G’
£3500 landlord contribution towards energy efficiency measures has been enforced
You will no longer be able to issue a new tenancy against properties with an EPC rating of ‘F’ or ‘G’
EPC’s are all published on a central register and are public knowledge. You will receive a fixed penalty of £5000 if found in breach of the MEES regulation
