Smart Energy West Midlands Ltd are an approved insulation installer throughout England and Wales. We are proud to have helped thousands of people save money on their energy bills providing funding where possible. We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and transparency. If we can help, we will and if we can’t we will explain why. We follow strict data protection guidelines and never share your information. All of our surveyors and installers have undergone extensive training, have valid DBS checks and wear photograph ID for your safety and security.

What we need

Smart Energy West Midlands Ltd will be known as the Data Controller of the personal data that you the Data Subject provide to us. We will only collect basic personal data about you where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party, or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract. This may include special categories of personal information about you. Often know as ‘sensitive personal data’. This information does however include details such as your name, address, email address and other personal information relevant to the purpose of processing.

What we do with it

All the personal data we hold about you will be processed by our staff in the United Kingdom. Some third-parties may have access to some of your personal information where there is a legitimate reason for this to happen where we require to do so in order to complete the services you requested such as funders, sub-contracted surveyors/installers. You have the right for this to be objected to before it has been processed, although we may be unable to progress your service request any further. Please be aware that although your data may be stored on a cloud-based system whose servers are located within the European Union. We will not sell or rent your personal information to third-parties. Email addresses are transmitted normally over the Internet and this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Whilst we strive to protect your personal information you transmit to us, you do so at your own risk, and we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.

How long we keep it

We will generally keep your personal data for a minimum of 6 years where we have provided a service to you, after which time it will be destroyed if it is no longer required for the lawful purpose(s) which it was obtained. (For employee data retention periods, please refer to our Employee Privacy Notice). We review our retention periods for personal information on a regular basis. Right to be forgotten

You have the right to ask us for access to any personal data we may hold on you and for it to be removed/wiped from our systems. There is no charge for this, unless it is deemed to be manifestly unfounded or excessive in which case, we may charge a fee to cover administration costs we will incur in providing the information to you. Please be aware that if there is a legal obligation for us to keep your personal data then the information cannot be removed/wiped from our systems until the lawful purpose has finished.
